In Diabetic Technology today, we will be talking again about innovative technology that may be coming in the future and one way that some students are becoming innovative is with a new type of diabetic technology. Diabetes Mine had an online competition to encourage creative new tools for improving life with diabetes called “The Diabetes Mine 2009 Design Challenge.” Many individuals and groups participated; a total of 150 entries were received. There were three winners. In Part 1, we showed you the Grand Prize Winner and in Part 2 we showed you the Most Creative Winner. Today we will be showing you the Kids Category Winner. This was an entry by a thirteen year old named Griffin Bonner.

It’s a relatively simple idea that no one’s done yet: retractable insulin pump tubing. Brilliant!  Enough said.

We at the Diabetic Cookbook Blog would like to say, “CONGRATULATIONS, TO ALL THE WINNERS!” We hope to see these winning design concepts converted into commercial products that we can get our hands on real soon!
